Clearance Process

Documentation Preparation
Gather and complete all necessary documents:
- Commercial Invoice
- Packing List
- Bill of Lading/Airway Bill
- Import/Export License (if required)
- Certificate of Origin
Ensure compliance with the import/export regulations of both the origin and destination countries.

Customs Declaration
Submit the shipment details electronically or manually to the customs authority.
A Customs Broker (if used) files the declaration on behalf of the importer/exporter.
Classification of goods using HS Codes (Harmonized System codes) is done at this stage.

Assessment & Inspection
Submit the shipment details electronically or manually to the customs authority.

Duty & Tax Payment
Import duties, VAT/GST, and other applicable fees are calculated based on the customs valuation.
Payment must be made before goods are released.
Some businesses may have a deferred payment account or use a bond system.

Release and Delivery of Goods
Once duties and taxes are paid and the shipment is cleared, customs issues a release order.
Goods are then delivered to the final destination (warehouse, customer, etc.).
If any issues arise (e.g., non-compliance), customs may seize or detain the shipment.
